The JP Studio Cine Club screening of the iconic White Christmas film on Wednesday 21st December was a great success!
The film stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney & Vera Ellen, with lyrics & music Ivring Berlin Directed by Michael Curtiz, and has been the Christmas Favourite since 1954. It appears in the BBC’s top 100 of all time best films.
The evening started with mulled wine, mince pies and a simple, multiple choice, fun Christmas quiz which was won by Nev Miller.
James then shared a few interesting facts about the White Christmas film: did you know that Rosemary Clooney could sing, but couldn’t dance? Or that Vera Ellen could dance, but couldn’t sing? Somehow they both seemed to manage OK in the movie! Also that George Chakaris (who later played Bernardo Nunez, the leader of the Sharks gang in West Side Story) also features in White Christmas (we spotted him!).
The best Christmas outfit was won (again) by Gillian Ashworth!
