Margaret in the Spotlight

Recognition and thanks

Margaret Steedman may be pint-sized, but our Scottish lass packs a punch! When living near Gandia, she was involved with musicals in aid of the Franciscan Hospice. “I am not a good singer but I have been Baby Spice, Connie Francis and one of the Andrew Sisters!” Prior to that, in Falkirk, she did make-up for many years.

After moving to Jávea in 2013 she became invaluable for Props before moving onto also Stage Managing. Her first production was Silver Linings in 2019 and as Stage Manager she enjoyed working with Leigh Patterson on I Colitus and Duets. She admits that My Fair Lady was very hard: “I was Props, helping to stage manage AND dress people in a very limited space backstage. The most fun was The Mousetrap [Assistant SM to Hugh]”.

She now wants to step back, although will continue to help with FOH and the bar. “I am looking forward to seeing productions from the audience in future!”

This, therefore, is to say a BIG THANK YOU to Margaret for all her hard work over the past 10 years. We’re sure she’ll be more than happy to give advice to anyone wishing to take over her roles, dealing with Props or Stage Managing.
